two more banners for SAP

brief: two more banners for SAP, again not using their branding nomenclature or logo at all. i was asked to make them stylistically different from the set I did yesterday, as Spiceworks is trying out some different things to see what works. it was noted that some that i designed with hand-drawn elements were performing well, so i chose to again use illustrations. i originally chose the hand-drawn elements because they were so drastically different from the very slick, clean corporate feel of the SAP brand.

series of banners advertising multiple whitepapers on SaaS

client: SAP
brief: users are not responding well to the SAP branded banners, so we are attempting to give them a completely different look and feel so the users can see how SAP can really help SMBs. SAP is seen by the users as serving huge, multinational companies, not SMBs.

notes 6mi run, 2.10.09

Mood:
Pretty good! had a great day yesterday being productive, active, and then drunk! for some reason, the runs are a lot easier to do when i have something fun to look forward to afterwards.
Weather:
cold as balls! went to UT. i was so glad we did b/c it started raining right when we started running! i'm soooo glad i bought the UT membership, or our training schedule would have been severely fucked by all this terrible weather
Music:
pandora, discoteka station!
Effort: 3/5 this was a pretty easy 6. we actually ran (jogged) 5 out of the 6 miles! i can definitely feel my endurance getting better.

Rackspace 3x2 banners, microsite, and vendor page

brief: Create 2 3x2 banners, resource center microsite, and vendor page promoting Rackspace's managed hosting.

one banner highlights four types of managed hosting, other banner is to click to start a live chat.

role: design, development
time: all comps, revisions, and development 28.5 hours

notes:

_this request came in friday 12.18.09. i gave him the first round of comps the following monday morning, 12.21. all comps were finished by 12.23. development began 1.4 and finished 1.5.
_feedback on the first microsite comp was that it looked too much like an ad.
_feedback on the first managed hosting banner was that it wasn't clear that the user can click any of the four options, just looked like static banner

_feedback from Rackspace(see attachment): “That’s the best mashup of our website content I’ve seen”

*attached .zips are html and images so you can click through the microsites and banners

IBM Smart Business Microsite Mockup Revised

revised ibm comp attached.

Hey Kelly,

I got the black planet image from launching the flash video. And if you skip the intro and watch the :60 trailer, that’s how I found the multicolored image.

You can also incorporate the two “conversations” in the upper right corner as content pieces as well. Try using the “decade of smart” as the main piece? And feel free to use your own creative thoughts to include in the microsite, you’re not limited to using what they have there.

Thanks,

Elaine

hey elaine, the images you sent over before were both pretty pixelated, so that's why i chose not to use them. i could possibly use the one with the type and oranges and blues, but i'll have to see if i can make the type look crisp enough.

i could possibly use that. if you can point me to the original of the orange and blue version, perhaps i can get a more crisp version.

the other image you sent me looks like it is a piece of a larger image, and has been blown up way beyond its original proportions. i'm not even sure what it is supposed to be?

what type of content did you have in mind for the overview page?

Hi Kelly,

No need to actually build this out today…just mockup so Jason can pitch it and he needs it within the next hour.

Is there a way you can incorporate the images I had attached in the previous email? Just looking for more color and a way to catch the client’s attention rather than screenshots from their site. Could you nix the bottom article with the guy speaking? And dig around more on their site for other content to use?

Let me know if you run into any creative roadblocks.

Thanks!

Elaine

ibm comp for overview page attached. i thought it might be nice to have the video play in a pop-up window like they did on the ibm site? this way, we can still use a smaller thumbnail image on the page, but the video will pop-into a window that lets it play at actual size.

i think it would be nice to mock-up an interior page, as well, but i wanted to give you a chance to comment on the direction before continuing with that. i envision the orange header ('welcome to TheSmarterCity') to switch out according to which tab the user is on (cloud computing, etc.), along with the content. perhaps have a link for a video on the interior pages as well?

let me know what you think so far.

thanks!

Hi Kelly,

Could you mock up a group sponsorship microsite for IBM? Jason needs this by EOD Monday 1/18.

We will use the content from this site- http://www.ibm.com/smarterplanet/us/en/index.html?re=sph

If you could embed the Mad Science video, we’d like that in one of the tabs, if not, link to it?

Definitely want the focus to be on the “Welcome to TheSmarterCity”

Link to the icons on the bottom- Cloud computing, Government, Healthcare, Retail, Telecom, Work and Overview

These are just screenshots but Jason really likes the imaging of the pictures so I’ve attached the two.

Please let me know if you have any questions! Sorry for the mad rush of requests!

Thanks Kelly!
